Getting on those New Year's Goals...

Good Morning...
Yesterday, Toni at
had a little purse party

Yep, a what's in your purse party!
She has a fun little quiz you can take
to see what your purse says about you.
You can take the quiz here
You can see what the quiz said about my purse
at the end of my post.

So when I read, "what's in your purse..."
My first thought was...
A crumbled up cookie from the grocery store
that Jackson didn't eat.

Since that was my first thought I decided that
I probably needed to jump on this challenge
right away.

So here is my purse...

It usually has my phone case and some
hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works on it.

So let's see what's in there...

My purse is never organized.  I tend to just dump
things in there.  Which, yes, makes it very frustrating
to try and find anything.

So what's in that pile of mess...

Nothing too exciting, the usual stuff.
Wallet, check books....not in wallet...not very smart...
cough drops, Kleenex (apparently we have a lot of snotty noses
because I had 4 packs in there)
Gum, tic-tacs, lipstick
and yes...trash!
Why is it that boys think mom's purse is a personal
garbage can?  I put enough garbage in there myself, thank you very much!
OK, I see Scott's keys...where are mine?
And yes, there is a pair of broken sunglasses in there.
I borrowed Scott's sunglasses that he usually leaves in my car on day,
threw them in my purse and guess what happened...
Yep, broken...I need to add "buy Scott new sunglasses"
to my to do list.

Store reward cards that were taking up a lot of
room in my wallet.

Ahhh....better.  Everything back in and organized.
Notice I switched purses...
it was time for a change.
I like to change my purses out often.

I borrowed Toni's idea for the store cards and
used a regular old hole punch and punched away.
Warning...some of those cards are NOT easy to punch through!
But I got them all done and slipped on a ring and
now when I need them, they are all in one place.
No more frantically searching through my walled
among everything else trying to find them while checking out.

A little update:  A few have asked about this bag.
It's a Vera Bradley Bowler Bag.
Love it!
I also changed out my gingerbread man
hand sanitizer for a cute little penguin for the winter.
The cute little holders works wonders when trying to
get little boys to keep their hands clean.

Well, it's not a giant organizing project that
is going to move mountains,
but it's a start.

and get some great ideas
on getting your purse organized!

So, did you go and take the quiz?
Here are my results.
I laughed a little at my results because they
are a little all over the place.

What my handbag says about me...

You are concerned with how you appear.
Projecting your high status is important to you.

Umm...not really...I don't think there is anything about me that
could be considered "High Status"

You tend to be relaxed throughout the day.
You are naturally at peace.

I think I would agree with this one.

You are a high maintenance person.
You feel lost outside of your normal environment.

HAHA!  This is where Scott would say
"You've got THAT right!"
I don't feel lost outside of my normal environment,
a little uneasy, maybe, but not lost.
High Maintance...sometimes...

You are a very creative person.
Your life tends to be a whirlwind,
but you always seem to pull it together.

Yep, that one sums me up pretty well.

You are an outgoing and expressive person.
You always speak your mind, and you're very approachable.

That one is pretty good.
I could probably stand to keep my opinion in
my pocket a little more often.

You are a very unique and special person.
There is no one else who is anything like you.

Yep, that's right...everyone is unique in their own way,
and as special as can be!

  2. I LOVE that bag!!! And I am right up there with you, my bag is NEVER organized, I will dump everything out and try to organize it then 5 minutes later it gets all messy again. I want to buy one of those kangaroo pouches for inside of it, and need to come up with some type of system for it. Its one of my goals for this year is to become more organized.. starting with my purse =P

and I dont have kids but I do have a hubby and I totally understand what you mean about boys thinking your purse is their personal trash can.. anytime he has any piece of paper or anything at all, receipts, etc. he just stuffs them into my purse, and if its all zipped up and closed he will hand me the receipt or force it into whatever tiny opening he sees. -_- I need to carry a little pouch just for putting receipts into so they all stay in one place and aren't floating all around in my purse and wallet and around the house.

  3. I was going to ask the same question as Amanda! The blue one is really pretty, but I love the functionality of the orangish/reddish one.

I used http://keyringthing.com/ years ago and it has helped to reduce the number of loyalty cards I carry around.

Sometimes organizing one's purse can be a significant project. My shoulder was killing me yesterday. Whenever that happens, that is a reminder that I need to make sure I'm not carrying around more than I need to be! (Cleaning out my purse is on my nightly checklist, but even so, it rarely gets done.)

  4. I'm so glad I finally found your blog again. I really loved this post. Update: I got a Vera Bradley bowler bag. It arrived on Friday. Apparently they are discontinuing this particular style; there were only two color choices left. I think I'm going to like it, but, unfortunately, even after reconsidering everything that I carry, my bag is still quite heavy.
